Perfect sound for digital radio and streaming thanks to xHE-AAC

xHE-AAC, the latest upgrade to the MPEG AAC codec family, has mainly been developed by Fraunhofer IIS and combines the advantages of existing audio and speech codecs within one technology. It provides consistent high quality audio for all signal types, such as talk radio or music programs at low bit rates. Moreover, at this year’s IBC Fraunhofer IIS presented with “StreamS Live” from Modulation Index, LLC the first professional streaming encoder supporting xHE-AAC.

Bernd Linz, Senior Engineer at Fraunhofer IIS, gives an overview of the advantages of xHE-AAC in the following interview.
