Spin Digital enables MPEG-H Audio in their State-of-the-art Streaming Spin Enc Live Encoder

Already used in Japan for streaming live events in 8K video and 22.2 MPEG-H Audio, Spin Digital’s live encoder has been released in a new version that is now available worldwide. It is optimized for next-generation media applications such as UHD (4K, 8K) broadcasting and streaming of immersive live experiences.

Spin Enc Live is a highly sophisticated encoder that supports the most advanced video codecs such as Versatile Video Coding (VVC) and HEVC – and it also provides personalized immersive sound through full support of MPEG-H Audio. With its combination of SDI and IP capturing options and the easy-to-use web interface, Spin Enc Live is the perfect solution for live streaming services that want to deliver stunning UHD quality using DASH and HLS.

Additionally, the Spin Player enables real-time decoding and playback of VVC and HEVC (4K, 8K) video and MPEG-H Audio on PC-based systems. Its intuitive user interface for personalization options allows service providers to monitor their content to ensure it meets the highest standards.

“We are happy to announce that the full range of MPEG-H Audio features is now available in our software-based solutions. Now, streaming services all over the world can benefit from our high-end live video encoding and combine it with MPEG-H Audio support we developed in cooperation with Fraunhofer IIS,” says Mauricio Alvarez-Mesa, CEO at Spin Digital. “Enabling immersive experiences and allowing viewers to personalize content during sport events or live concerts is the future of entertainment, and we are proud to be part of this innovation.”

The MPEG-H Audio system and VVC, the latest video codec, have both been adopted by the SBTVD Forum for Brazil’s upcoming TV 3.0 broadcast system, and together, they deliver the most compelling experience for next generation broadcast services.

“We at Fraunhofer IIS believe that streaming top-quality content will be one of the key entertainment trends of the coming years,” says Adrian Murtaza, Senior Manager, Technology and Standardization, at Fraunhofer IIS. “That’s why we are thrilled to partner with a global player like Spin Digital, who commits to the same high standards as we do.”
