In August 2021 we announced that we licensed our xHE-AAC audio codec software to Facebook. Today, xHE-AAC is providing a superior audio experience to users of Facebook and Instagram, for example in their Reels and Stories. This motivated Meta to share their experience with the benefits of xHE-AAC in a dedicated post on the Meta engineering blog.
